A Home is an inverstment. When you rent, you write your monthly check and that money is gone forever. But when you own your house, you can deduct the cost of your mortgage loan interest from your income taxes, and usually from your taxable income. This will save you a lot each year, because the interest you pay will make up most of your monthly payment for most of the years of your mortgage. In addition, the value of your home may go up over the year. Finally, you'll enjoy having something that's all yours- a home where your own personal style will tell the world who you are.

In most cases, the mortgage interest (and property tax) may be itemized and deducted from your taxable income, lowering your overall tax bill. This can make your after-tax cost of home ownership lower than renting. However, there may be tax implications if you later sell the home at a profit. Please consult your tax adviser regarding interest deductibility.
